Can you design connections for Tapered Column to Tapered Rafters using IDEA STATICA?
Hey guys!
I am struggling to find references on how to design connections using IDEA StatiCa for my portal framed tapered columns and rafters.
I know IDEA StatiCa is a powerful software for connections but I haven't seen one tutorial creating connections for tapered sections.
I only know RAM Connection can do it but I prefer IDEA Statica because it will also include the cross bracings in the connection design.
Here's a pic of my initial design in RAM Connection but there is also a cross bracings there, which is not included by RAM Connection that's why I prefer using IDEA StatiCa.
I did import my members from STAAD to IDEA StatiCa Check bot but it didn't imported my tapered sections instead it let me assigned it into other shape which I choose a W Shape that is almost identical to its end that have lesser cross-sectional area.
Any suggestions? References or Clarfications please?
