Life in a Scotch Sitting-room, Vol. 0, Glasgow
The show last Sunday in Glasgow was a beautiful exploration of nostalgia for Hamish's childhood, as well as a showcase for Ivor Cutler's sweet and simple songs. It was refreshing to enjoy some performance art that was so unabashedly twee and joyful from a band that are confident enough to take a break from the fuzz pedals, strobe lights, and posturing, to put on some silly hats and play some soft harmonium and primary school glockenspiel. It was absurd, hilarious, and utterly charming. Andrew Pearson playing keyboard with his elbows was a highlight, as were the intimate performances of 'New Rhododendrons' and 'Catherine Opens a Window'.
