After months of going back and forth, comparing quotes, reading way too many Reddit threads, and getting overwhelmed by everyone saying completely different things, we finally decided to move ahead with solar.

Now that the decision is made I feel equal parts excited and mildly convinced I’ve made a terrible financial decision lol.

For those who already have it:

  • was it actually worth it for you?
  • did your savings line up with what you were told?
  • anything you wish you knew before install?

Would genuinely love to hear the good, bad, or ugly because every solar thread seems like a war zone.

I was pretty skeptical about solar in general because every company seems to promise insane savings, but we ended up signing with Zeno.

Too early for me to say whether it was the right call long term, but I will say they were one of the few that didn’t make the consultation feel like a timeshare presentation.

I asked for realistic numbers and they actually walked through production estimates, financing, and what happens if output underperforms instead of just “you’ll save thousands.”

Warranty coverage helped.

Also nice that they’re handling inspections/permits/approval because there’s apparently more admin involved than I expected.

Will see how install goes, but the upfront process has been fairly painless.

I am wondering how much resale value solar adds to your house, if any. We are getting the for ourselves and plan on staying in our house for awhile but down the road wondering if anyone has ever had it add value, or what happens when you sell and still pay off the loan?
