Holy shit, why is it IMPOSSIBLE to set up a Quest 2 without specifically the Quest 2 Controllers. This headset is literally designed to be used without the fucking controllers using the volume up and down volume for clicking on things, yet Facebook INSISTS that you use their controllers and have them ON HAND or else you cannot do anything with the headset you bought.
Got a second hand one off FB marketplace without controllers? Sorry bub, you are out of luck. Got a second hand one that has only ONE controller? Well buddy, looks like you are out of luck. Even if you just want to hook it up to your PC and use your keyboard and mouse, even if you plan on just using a fucking Xbox controller, you can't.
This is genuinely the most petty and stupid bullshit I have ever seen from a company. The only reason I can think Facebook would do this is to deter you buying secondhand headsets. Well excuse me fucking Zuckerberg for not wanting to pay $200+ for your bullshit, and for wanting a cheaper option. Excuse me for going onto YOUR OWN FUCKING PLATFORM and making the mistake of getting a headset without controllers, thinking secondhand controllers would be at least decently cheap, or that I could at least have limited functionality with the headset I already have.
There is legitimately no reason why you should not be able to get past the set-up screen without two controllers, and you should not have to bypass the set-up screen with sketchy ass tools to use the headset YOU OWN regardless of if you got it second hand. At the very least, you should be able to use one controller.
"Oh, well what are you going to use the headset for if you don't have the controllers". Like I said, Steam VR, watching 360 videos, VR chat, playing games with an Xbox controller, LITERALLY ANY NUMBER OF USES. IT DOESN'T MATTER. I should be able to set up my headset and at least fucking use it as a basic VR headset without the controllers. Fucking phone vr worked without controllers, and even that had some cool experiences. Why can't I at least have something like that if I don't have controllers. Why can't I at use it for any number of experiences that don't require controllers, like sitting in a virtual movie theater or something? FUCK META.
That's it. Sorry about this. I know this will never happen, but I do wish Meta would change this. I bought a really cheap headset and was really excited to use it and it's literally been a dead weight unless I pay significantly more for two sets of controllers than I paid for the headset. I even bought a controller off of Ebay thinking I could set it up with just one and save some cash but...nope. You NEED both. It is IMPERATIVE that you have BOTH to set up the device you paid for. I'm very frustrated and am probably just going to jailbreak it using the aforementioned sketchy apps
