Periodic DE 'Crashes' followed by immediate resets
Apologies if I am using terminology incorrectly, but I can explain what happens.
On my previous OS, Fedora 42 Workstation (I installed KDE plasma on it after getting fed up with gnome), after a significant period of time using this new OS (weeks or months), I noticed an error I would get.
Every now and then, whether or not I was interacting with the desktop, the desktop would briefly become unresponsive (I cannot add widgets, right click, open shortcuts), flash black as it 'crashes' and removed my wallpaper, only to 'restart', restore my wallpaper, and function normally until the next crash event.
I installed CachyOS recently, it's a better fit for me and I quite like it, but after a month or two of usage, this issue has returned (though at a far lower frequency than after several months of Fedora).
Additionally, I have absolutely had this issue on Windows, where Windows explorer would crash and reboot, but I figured this issue was related to Windows, but if it is a pattern, it's plausible this isn't related to the OS.
Specs (from memory)
Nvidia 3070 ti (I run proprietary drivers and frequently update)
Amd 5600x
16gb of ram
OS on an Nvme
I use two monitors (one is 2k 144, one is 2k 240 vrr)
Is this issue common? As much as I didn't like GNOME I didn't see this occur on it. More than willing to tolerate it but if the frequency gets worse over time, I'm wondering if there's anything I can do about it.
Tl;Dr
Desktop crashes to black screen and immediately restarts, issue has happened on multiple OS. It increases the longer I use an OS.
