I had my first root canal yesterday on a back top tooth. Important to note: I have a very small mouth (har har). My dentist was fantastic, offered a bite guard and did extra numbing for the procedure. During the procedure, my jaw clicked repeatedly through the procedure, but it felt ok yesterday so I just shrugged it off.
Today, the opposite side of my jaw from the root canal hurts so incredibly bad I'm struggling to open it. I am doing the classic OTC pain relievers, ice, warm. I'm pretty sure it's back where it belongs, but I've had other subluxation/ dislocations I thought were back and months later popped back.
Of note as an edit: my doctor told me to call my dentist, my dentist is not EDS informed (honestly neither is my doctor) who simply told me to rest. I'm in America right now and find it rather silly to go to the ED for a sore but moble jaw, so I'm not looking for "call your doctor" advice! Though I appreciate it, that box has already been checked.
Any advice welcome, pain relief, ensuring it's back in place, food recs, even just affirmation that it got better if this happened to you! I not only have a massive bruise on the side of my face with the root canal and significant pain over there, my TMJ don't wanna move and hurts like no ones business when I try to move my jaw. TIA!
