Does anyone take NAD+ injections? I am 5 days pre-op, is it safe to do my NAD+ today? What supplements & medications did you stop? And continue? I know everyone is different, I am only interested.

Hi Everyone, I am 45 years old, active in pilates 5 days a week (well was until 4 months ago), and very active with outdoor activites and taking my son to events the past 4 years before all of this pain got to be too much. I have been living with a torn rt labrum for 3 years. For about 4 months until we could figure out what was wrong with me, I was on 40mg of oxycodone daily, I know thats an obscene amount but even though I am 4'10" and weigh 105 lbs, my body chemistry works against me. I am an ultra rapid metabolizer of meds and malabsorption. SUPER awful when it comes to pain management. In February I asked to be tapered off the medication, I thought I wouldn't need it now that we knew I had a torn labrum & were hoping PT, returning to pilates, and steroid injections would work. But I tapered down to about 25mg and the pain returned. I am scheduled for surgery 5/8 (thats the soonest they can get me in) But I am in acute pain. My PCP was handling the taper, which is now at a pause until post op, and she told me Friday "I cannot manage acute pain, I do not know anything about it or how to treat it. Its not in my scope of practice." The surgeon told me before we scheduled surgery, that post op he will manage my pain for 8-12 weeks and then his Pain Management Team will take over from there. And told me 2 weeks ago, "I cannot take you into surgery when you are in this amount of pain that is not controlled. We have to get your body calmed down before surgery."
Right now, I am in excruciating, debilitating pain. In the past 5 days, I was in a car accident (I rear ended someone because I was consumed with pain, I was looking left at traffic and thought she had turned right. She is another mom at my son's school) reduced hours at work from 40 to 10. I cannot clean, cook, or perform any daily household task. And worst of all, I cannot play with my 5 year old. I am scared.

My questions are:

  1. Who prescribed your pre-op pain medication?

  2. What was the dose you were on pre-op? Like how much is too much?

  3. After surgery, were you able to taper off the pain meds successfully? Meaning, not in any pain, so they were no longer required?

  4. For those that needed pain meds post op, what was your dose?
