For those interested in health/longevity: study shows Camel Milk protects the liver and gut from alcohol damage

Hey everyone,

I came across an interesting study in Nature that I thought was worth sharing with the expat community here, especially since we have such easy access to high-quality camel milk in Riyadh.

The study is: "Camel milk ameliorates inflammatory mechanisms in an alcohol-induced liver injury mouse model"

While it’s a mouse-model study, the results are pretty significant for anyone interested in "functional foods" or liver health:

  • Liver Protection: It found that Camel Milk (CM) helped prevent lipid accumulation and oxidative stress in the liver caused by alcohol.
  • Gut Health: It significantly reduced "leaky gut" issues and helped maintain a healthy balance of gut bacteria.
  • Sleep/Inflammation: Because it reduces systemic inflammation and is high in tryptophan, it may also help with the "sleep fragmentation" that often happens after drinking.

Why mention this here? Back home, camel milk is often expensive or hard to find in specialty health stores. Here in Riyadh, we can get fresh options like NOUG or Al Ain at almost any supermarket (Tamimi, Danube, etc.).

Has anyone here made camel milk a part of their routine for health or recovery? I'm curious to hear your experiences with it.
