Hey everyone,

I’m a Product Manager currently building a fintech MVP on the side. I’m looking for some "Product/Market Fit" feedback on a concept I’m working on called ShadowPlan.

The Problem: Many people want the sophisticated allocations or Tax-Loss Harvesting (TLH) strategies provided by managed services (Schwab Intelligent Portfolios, Vanguard PAS, etc.), but don't want to pay a 0.50%–1.00% AUM fee on their entire net worth.

The Solution (Shadowing): The app allows you to run a "Hybrid" portfolio strategy.

  1. The Lead: You put a small portion of your assets (the minimum required) into a professionally managed account.
  2. The Shadow: You keep the bulk of your assets in a DIY brokerage account.
  3. The Mirror: The app monitors the "Lead" account. When the pro advisor makes a trade, the app calculates the proportional multiplier and prompts you to make the same move in your "Shadow" account.

Current MVP Status:

  • Handles multiplier-based rebalancing (e.g., if the advisor buys 10 shares in a 10% account, it tells you to buy 90 in your 90% account).
  • Supports manual trade entry and initial portfolio split suggestions.
  • Roadmap: CSV/PDF statement parsing and eventually Plaid integration for real-time notifications.

I’d love your "Brutal PM Feedback" on a few things:

  • Friction: Is manual entry/CSV upload a dealbreaker for you, or is saving ~$5k–$10k/year in fees enough incentive to do 5 minutes of work a month?
  • Security: As app users, would you ever link a "Read-Only" Plaid connection to a tool like this, or is that a bridge too far?
  • Blind Spots: What am I missing? (I’m already looking into Wash Sale warnings and handling proprietary fund alternatives).

Looking forward to the feedback!
