I have been mounjaro for over a year and have convinced my 76 year old dad to go on the drug.
My reason for this post is because I’m concerned about the information his pharmacist has given him. He has started him off at 5mg, rather than the recommended 2.5mg. His reason is because my dad has a high weight. My starting weight was 125kg and I had a 7kg loss on 2.5mg, but that also came with gastrointestinal issues (constipation and diarrhoea). His starting weight is 120kg.
I have never heard of anyone starting at 5mg before. Have any of you started on a dose higher than 2.5mg and could you please let me know experience if you have?
The pharmacist has also said he doesn’t need the alcohol wipes and they’re mainly for homeless people, which has confused me.
This is a legit pharmacist so I’m confused by the things he’s saying and recommending. My dad is following his advice because the pharmacist is a trained medical professional, but I feel so uncomfortable with him proceeding. I’m trying to get him to take a starting dose of 2.5mg from his 5mg pen at least for the first couple of weeks to see how he reacts to the drug. Idk what to do
