For the uninitiated, can someone explain how the Adam West show handled recasts? Particularly, since Catwoman was recast twice in this series including the movie. Did the new actresses continue playing Selina Kyle or were they new characters donning the Catwoman costume? If they continued playing Selina, did the show acknowledge the change in appearance in any way? I’d guess that Julie Newmar and Lee Meriwether played Selina Kyle but I’m curious about Eartha Kitt. (Pretty cool that an actress named Kitt got to play Catwoman 😉) In either case, did each actress get a unique Catwoman costume or did the same costume carry over?
The movie came out between seasons 1 & 2 and cast Lee Meriwether as Catwoman but Julie Newmar played her before and after the movie in seasons 1 & 2. Why didn’t she play her in the movie?
Since Eartha Kitt clearly, isn’t white like Julie Newmar and Lee Meriwether, then the producers must’ve also changed the identity of Catwoman, right? Like a new character taking on the Catwoman persona? If so, how was that explained in the series? But if Eartha did continue playing Selina, why did the producers choose someone of a different race? By doing so this would, of course, leave the audience very confused.
I believe Mr. Freeze and Riddler also went through recasts. How were these also handled?
