Mails to US are reaching in damaged conditions and some are returning in pieces

I've sent many postcards in past few months and other mails to US and they are reaching in damaged condition.

Automated sorting machines are damaging them. Receivers wouldn't be happy to get a damaged mail. They sent back half piece of aerogramme back, sender's address piece was missing.

What should I do so they reach in a good condition? is there a way to mark certain mails as "non-machinable" to protect them? Its not just me but my friends are also facing the same issue with their mails to US.

I have to send few mails without envelope very soon and I'm worried it will get damaged by machines :(

Which countries still sends postcards/mail by Surface mail and Surface Airlifted (SAL) mail?

We all write airmail or apply airmail sticker on our postcards for sending international mail. My country has discontinued surface and surface airlifted options and ships mail only via air. I guess its no longer relevant or required but more of a decoration.

I'm curious if there's any country where mails are sent through different means other than air where writing "airmail" is mandatory.

Where to get crocheting materials in the city?

I'm looking for stores to get crocheting materials such as different color yarns, crochet hook, etc.

preferred areas include adajan, pal, vesu, citylight, bhatar and ghoddod road. If there are no stores in these areas, I'm also okay with visiting other areas.

I made this inland letter for my mother on the mother's day

This is my last stamped inland letter and I made it for my mother. I hope she likes it. She secretly wanted to receive this when she saw me making these for you guys 😂

I'll stop making these stamped ones now and move to a new idea. I didn't expect that I will get a chance to make and send these to many people. It did give me hand and back pain haha but looking at everyone liking it made me genuinely happy :)

I wanted help regarding franking machine. I don't think these machines are given to individuals and these are not cheaper either.

I send mails regularly and stick postage stamps on my letters and postcards from the post office. I want to pay the postage with a franking machine if someone is willing to do it for me for my next mail outgoings. I will pay the amount immediately once you frank my mails.

I want to try this method for my mails. If you don't have the machine and have any leads, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks u/Calm_Channel_4431 for the beautiful stamp art postcard! Our creative postcard experiment has completed successfully!

First picture has u/Calm_Channel_4431's stamp art postcard and the next one is the one I sent to him.

Story behind this experiment:

We were discussing various experiments to try with the postcard. After a while, we both came up with this idea of not using any stamp on message side and putting as many stamps as possible on the picture side. We called it 'Stamp Art Postcard'. we asked ourselves - would this even work? Instead of fancy stamp art designs, we went for a simple one. we told each other that if this worked, we can be more creative in future stamp art postcards.

We used 50 paise (0.5 rupee) definitive stamps for this experiment, but even commemorative stamp works. This idea isn't new as maxi postcards have one stamp and cancellation on the picture side. We took it to the next level by completely removing the picture and put the whole focus on stamps as an art. Why put only one stamp when we can put as many as possible? Possibilities are endless for the stamp art.

Give stamp art postcard a try and show us what art you make with the stamps!

The postcard is featuring a photograph by the renowned fashion photographer Bill Cunningham. The photo captures a woman cycling through the streets of New York City wearing a gigantic ruffle skirt under her summer dress.

I tried new things on the yellow postcards:

  1. I made mangoes with different colored highlighters. I call mango postcard collectively as "50 shades of mango" lol.

  2. That dark blue postcard with blue ghost holding postcard is made with acrylic colors. I felt these postcards are not the best for painting but it works.

  3. Printed a pattern on the back of yellow postcard. I got that edge to edge printing but still messed up with dimensions and bottom part didn't got printed.

Custom 300gsm ivory paper postcards:

  1. This is the second time I made a handmade painted letterbox postcard.

  2. I tried making a reply postcard, the one with the stamps in the picture.

This was another random postcard idea that allowed me to try a new medium i.e. painting on canvas. I found the exact size 6"x4" from a local art store. These canvas postcards were sent as speed post, because it can't be sent as ordinary postcard or letter. Postcards shouldn't be thick and it needs to be bendable.

These reached in 2-3 days to receivers as part of a direct swap. Both of them are really good at art. They were too humble to give compliment for these paintings. I know these paintings are meh and i need to improve a lot. I'll improve over time. It was a fun experience!
