Good morning, I have a puppy (14 weeks, female, English Cocker Spaniel Mix) and I am having trouble with her socializing with other dogs. She is fine with my rabbits and other cats, however, either dogs she starts barking frequently and sometimes pees if she gets scared. We have had a few instances already with dogs running up to her and then she tries to bite them with her baby teeth when they get too close. I have thought about letting my mom’s senior dog meet her but when I did, the senior ran up to sniff my puppy and the puppy tried to bite. Is there a way to mitigate this? With humans, it’s much less frequent to possibly none as of recently for barking.
She has been exposed to blenders, vacuums, power washers, cars, etc. and she seems fine with it. It just seems like when she barks she doesn’t expect the dog to interact with her. Are puppy socialization classes good? Or do I take her to an empty dog park so she can smell other dogs?
She has also gotten into the phase of sniffing and eating everything so if anyone has any tips for that too that would be awesome! I am currently pulling everything she isn’t supposed to eat out of her mouth. Thank you!
