Sorry if this question gets asked a lot but I figured I needed an answer from people who have seen more than 3 mecha anime.
So I’m a big nge fan (just look at my pfp lol) and one thing I hear a lot is that Eva is a deconstruction of the mecha genre. One of the main reasons people say this is because Shinji is traumatized by piloting the Eva, and that in most mecha anime the mc is just some badass who never deals with trauma. So because of that I see people say nge is a super different show compared to other anime.
But then I decided to watch the og mobile suit gundam (the compilation movies, I plan on watching the full show at some point), and I got to the scene where Amuro refuses to pilot the gundam because he’s traumatized and iirc he says he can’t sleep at night, so then bright slaps him.
So now I’m confused, is Eva actually a deconstruction or is ptsd just a common thing in mecha anime? And if it is then why do Eva fans constantly yap about how different nge is? Also if I’m misunderstanding what a deconstruction is then I’m sorry lol.
