Since this question is heavily based on how you perceived the "default" button, I want to test how far are you red or blue.
In theses scenarios, you and all humankind are abducted by an advance race of aliens. Each of you will have to choose between two doors : a red door and a blue door.
The aliens will check, thanks to their technology, the brain of the participants, and anyone who don’t understand one of these two things will be exclude from the experiment : 1/you will always survive if you take the red door, 2/if most of humanity take the blue door, everyone will survive. Anyone who don’t understand one or both of theses will not participate and live. Everyone else must participate (including children in age to understand).
Every scenario have the same utilitarian outcome, but not the same moral implication.
If you press red in the original version begin up to down (1 to 7). If you press blue, down to up (7 to 1).
Where do you change ?
1/ Stabbing yourself
red door : exit
blue room : you have to stab yourself with a poisonous knife (you can’t survive but you will not die rapidly). If 50% of humanity does it, alien medical team with antidote will save everyone and the exit open.
2/ Poison
red door : exit
blue room : you have to drink a poison. If 50% of humanity does it, alien will give you the antidote and open the exit.
3/ No red room
red door : exit
blue room : if less than 50% of humanity enter the blue room, aliens will release a poisonnous gaz that will kill everyone in the blue room.
4/ Twitter version
blue room : If 50% enter here, both exits open
red room : If 50% enter here, everyone in the blue room die, then the red exit open.
5/ No blue room
blue door : exit
red room : If more than 50% enter here, an fleet of killing drones will be lauch by the aliens and kill every person who have take the blue door, then the exit open.
6/ An alien scientist want to develop a very contagious and 100% deadly virus. It need testing.
blue door : exit
red room : You enter the testing program. You are 100% sure to survive the testing and to have the antidote if the virus is ready. If 50% of humanity goes here, the virus is ready, it is release and kill everyone who haven’t received the antidote. If less than 50% goes there, the virus could never be done.
7/ Blood on your hand
blue door : exit
red room : if less than 50% goes here, the exit open in the room. If more than 50% enter, groups of one, two or three persons (depending on how much people choose the red room) are formed and put in separate rooms. Every group will control a drone. With the drone, they have to capture a persone who exit by the blue door and bring them back. Then, they have to kill them with a poisonous knife. An exit open when the person who take the blue door is dead.
