I’m still in the learning process of surgery. I can monitor anesthesia very well but i’m also not an expert, i’m a baby tech. Today we were doing a mass removal on a dog and another tech was monitoring anesthesia while i was assisting the doctor. We transferred the pet into the surgery room after sedation and prep were finished. The other tech must have left the valve closed to the reservoir bag and didn’t realize. Luckily, i had noticed that our reservoir bag was getting extremely full.. i alerted the doctor and he immediately disconnected the bag from the pet. I’ve never been in a situation where this has happened and it scared me a bit. Has anyone ever seen a scenario where the bag has popped and the pet died ? It’s stressing me out now. Sorry for the rant but i feel that it was very negligent, i genuinely wanted to cry when i got home because that situation could have ended badly.
