How hard are the promotional exams? Class4, class2 ( both parts ) and class 1. Im joining tolani maritime institute (Marine Engineering). I would also like to know how long did it take for you to clear the exams. I have heard its like 3-4 attempts average, but even if an exam is conducted once every 2-3 months, its just around a year? So does it take, at max, around 3 years to clear all your exams from class4 to class 1? Please correct me if im wrong.

Also, please let me know another thing. im joining tolani, is the company allocation random, or is it merit based? I dont want to end up in a bad comapny after being in the top 10%
