Dumb question but when I was in school but my favorite things to learn about were ways to reduce size or speed up programming. The Quake inverse square law example was just so cool to learn about.

Ive been a platform engineer for 3 years now, mostly TF, python, and bash. I haven’t used anything like that since college.

Do you use any more memory efficient techniques? Just curious!

wife and I are replacing all of our registers since they’re about 30 years old. 14 total: 2 8x4, 6 10x8, and 6 14x8.

we bought the reliant brand from Home Depot, but the arm that controls the damper sticks out more than the original register arm. it’s like that for all 3 sizes. upon further inspection, the arm won’t fit into the duct box and it has to in order to have the face sit flush with the wall.

so I’m replacing those but we’ve been to ACE, Lowe’s, and HD with no luck.

so we’re kind of at a loss. I think a slider would work instead of an arm but none of the major brands carry those.

any advice or any recommendations? At worst we can deep clean and paint the old registers but they look old.
