I have a 12-year-old miniature pinscher, about a month ago I noticed she was very sad and quiet which isn't her normal behaviour at all and eventually found a lump on her belly, so I took her to the vet.

It turned out to be a tumor, 2 actually, the vet wasn't able to perform a biopsy to determine the specific type but they also discovered she has heart problems. Since then, she’s been taking heart medication and eating some special food, and she seems to have regained her old energy which i'm extremely happy and relieved about.

Now I’m unsure whether I should really have her undergo surgery, considering that she seems perfectly fine and pain-free, the vet also assured me of that, as well as the added risk from her heart condition and the cost of the operation... I’m not in a good financial position at the moment.

I’m afraid I’ll feel guilty later on for not having her operated on, but I’m also afraid she won’t be able to recover or even withstand the procedure at all, that even if i get them removed this time they might come back again.

I’d really like to hear the opinions of people who have gone through something similar to help me decide and maybe ease my mind a bit.

Thank you in advance.
