Hi everyone,

I’m a software engineer working with international clients and I receive payments from overseas regularly.

Right now, I’m facing a delay with an inward remittance of USD 1,745 from Austria, sent on 23rd April, which hasn’t been credited yet. I’ve already followed up with the bank and shared all required details, but there’s still no clear timeline.

This isn’t the first time — I’ve noticed that international payments often get delayed, and I usually have to follow up multiple times before they’re processed.

I wanted to ask:

• Is this kind of delay normal for inward remittances to India?
• What’s the best way to escalate if it takes too long?
• Are there banks in India that handle international payments more efficiently?

This is starting to affect my work since I depend on timely payments from clients abroad.

Any suggestions or experiences would really help.
