Pain when lying on one side after flox neuropathy – anyone else?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced something similar.

I took ciprofloxacin in September 2025 (3 pills, 500 mg each). Since then, I’ve had many neurological symptoms.

For months, my worst symptoms were nerve pain, numbness, and a very strange “paper-like” / unreal skin feeling all over my body, especially in my arms and legs. I also had many other symptoms, including electric sensations, cold feelings, muscle twitching, and sensory disturbances.

The good news is that the nerve pain and paper-like skin feeling have mostly improved over the last 10 days suddenly.

However, over the past few days I’ve developed something new:

Whenever I lie on one side for a while (left shoulder/chest/upper arm area, hip, or back), the muscles/tissue on that side start hurting quite a lot from the pressure. It almost feels like my body can’t tolerate lying/pressure on one side anymore.

Has anyone experienced this kind of pressure-induced pain or muscle sensitivity after fluoroquinolones / neuropathy?

Hi everyone,

I’m in my mid-30s and used to be very athletic and healthy.

In March/April 2025, I developed numbness on the right side of my body after a shoulder exercise at the gym (I also felt something tear on the left side of my head). The symptoms lasted for over a month and then resolved. Doctors thought it was stress-related.

Starting around June, I began having issues in the genital area. In September 2025, I was prescribed ciprofloxacin (3 tablets, 500 mg each) for suspected prostatitis. After the first dose, I noticed unusual reactions (e.g., a warm sensation). After the second and third doses, I developed burning nerve pain in my chest. Since then, my condition has completely changed.

Main issue: ongoing neuropathy

My symptoms come in waves, and new ones keep appearing:

- Burning, stabbing, and “electric” nerve pain throughout my body

- Strong cold sensations combined with nerve pain

- Tingling and numbness in arms and legs

- Fluctuating weakness in arms and legs

- Disturbed temperature perception

- Strange sensations in the mouth/lips

- Most concerning right now: a very dull, “paper-like” / unreal skin feeling all over my body

Note:

In October, I was treated with piperacillin/tazobactam for 10 days (again for suspected prostatitis). During that time, my neurological symptoms improved significantly, but they returned afterward.

In January 2026, I had a major relapse with extreme cold sensations and nerve pain throughout my body. Since then, things have improved slightly, but the abnormal skin feeling has become very prominent and worrying.

Reactions to supplements / food

I did not tolerate magnesium L-threonate or acetyl-L-carnitine well — especially ALCAR seemed to worsen my symptoms

I feel like I react poorly to many foods and supplements in general

At the moment, I feel stuck and find it very difficult to tell what helps and what makes things worse.

Lyme

One doctor suggested this could possibly be Lyme disease.

ELISA (IgG & IgM): negative (tested twice)

ArminLabs: IgG positive and CD57/NK cells low, this means I could have a chronic infection (e.g. Borreliose or something else)

I understand that these results are controversial, but they made me question whether a chronic infection could be involved (Lyme or something else).

My questions:

- Could this still be Lyme disease? I had 2024 a red spot which I thought it was a tick but the tests results were negative.

- Has anyone had similar symptoms (especially this “paper-like” skin feeling)?

- Has anyone experienced strong sensitivities to foods or supplements like this?

I would really appreciate any honest experiences or opinions.

Thank you 🙏
