Question about how 6 year contracts work
My boyfriend is in the navy and I know nothing about how this works so I was wondering if someone could explain it to me. I don't know if this is the right place for me to put this so sorry if it isn't. My boyfriend is doing a 6 year contract and he enlisted late november 2024. He has finished all the schools in great lakes ATT, A school, and both F schools plus some holds and he has just PCSed to Dahlgren Virginia this month for C school which he started recently and said he should finish sometime in November. What I am wondering is will he go to his permanent command (base) next or will he get deployed right away? and like is he going to be connected to one ship the rest of his contract? will he be like sent after C school to the base where his ship is connected/stationed at and will that be his permanent base for the rest of his contract or will he be moving to different bases (PCSing) often or is the only reason you move to a new base is if your ship gets relocated to a new base/command? Or will he be switching which ships he is connected/assigned to throughout the rest of his contract? I'm just wondering how it all works bc we want to live together after he gets done with C school and I finish my Masters degree next May 2027 and I want to know where will he be like will he be at one base for the rest of his contract or should I be expecting us to be moving frequently once we get married and live together? Sorry if this is confusing or not in the right subreddit
