I have a Focusrite Scarlett Solo which I use to record guitar and vocals. I have been experimenting with audacity to record tracks but it is old school and quite limited in terms of effects (reverb, delay) and quality. I would like to add some simple virtual instruments like drum, bass, synth, etc.
My style is folk/rock; I tried Ableton live (trial version) but it is mostly targeted towards electronic music which doesn't really suit my style.
Do you have any recommendations of DAWs that are easy to start with for a beginner who would like to record their own music? Preferably free or with a trial version so I can see if it's a good fit before spending money on it.
I have a Windows PC, a Focusrite Scarlett solo and a launchpad (MIDI controller) which I would also like to use.
