Hello, I think I know the answer because our solicitor has advised us to let it go but on the absurd offshoot there some one with experience....

Trying to buy a maisonette in a building owned by Thames Water. It was all going...swimmingly (even by their water standards) then all came to a dramatic dark end when we inquired on building insurance...

Thames will only proffer a certificate of insurance which our solicitor has said won't satisfy the lender. We eventually got Thames to concede and share the policy, which is what brought us to the devastation.... Thames building insurance apparently only will pay excess or 5 million, which is evidently beyond my pay grade.

Solicitor has basically said that makes it a lost cause as can't be insured. I don't doubt them as they've been good but how is it possible so many people brought these houses with no insurance?
