F83 M4 vs F83 M4 Competition worth it? Common issues around 100k km?
Hey everyone,
I’m currently looking at getting a BMW M4 Convertible, specifically the F83 generation, and I’m trying to figure out if the Competition package is actually worth spending extra money on compared to the regular F83 M4.
I know the Competition gets a small power bump, different suspension tuning, seats, exhaust etc, but does it actually feel noticeably better in real-world driving? Especially as a cabriolet where the car is already a bit heavier.
For those who have owned or driven both:
Is the Competition version worth the extra money?
Is the handling/driving experience noticeably different?
Does the feel more refined or just stiffer?
I’m also interested in reliability and ownership experiences around the 100,000 km (10,000 mil) mark.
Are there any common problems or expensive failures I should watch out for on the:
S55 engine
DCT gearbox
convertible roof system
suspension/components
crank hub concerns
cooling system
electronics/interior wear
Would really appreciate hearing from owners, especially people with higher mileage cars. Any advice on what to inspect before buying would help a lot.
Thanks!
