Five floors with no lift
Does anyone have experience getting a mortgage on a flat in a building over four storeys with no lift?
I’m buying a lower ground floor flat in a Victorian conversion with its own entrance, but my broker says the building is likely classed as five storeys which can be problematic i.e some lenders won’t lend on this type of building, while others decide based on the valuation. It’s in a desirable area and has sold multiple times over the past 10 years.
I will approach a lender which is more lenient on this, but I’ve heard of applications being declined and unsure if that’s mainly where flats are on upper floors. Interested to hear if anyone has come across this.
