Beginner here, how bad is my Q990F bedroom setup?
I’m completely new to home theater / audio stuff, so please go easy on me
I recently bought a Samsung Q990F for my bedroom, and after reading more about Atmos setups, reflections, rear speaker positioning, room symmetry, etc., I’m starting to worry that my room layout might be terrible for this system.
Here’s my current layout/setup:
- 75” TV + Q990F at the front wall
- Right side has windows + fabric curtains
- Left side is more open/asymmetrical
- Rear speakers are behind the bed
- Rear speakers are facing straight forward toward the TV (not angled toward me)
- Rear speaker height is around ear level when sitting on the couch
- Soundbar height is a bit low because of the TV stand constraints (around chest level while seated)
Current settings:
- Everything is still mostly default
- SpaceFit Pro is enabled
- Using Adaptive mode
Subwoofer:
- I already tried doing a “subwoofer crawl” (I think that’s the correct term?)
- The current position seems to be the best spot I can realistically place it in this room
When I tested Dolby Atmos demo videos/trailers, I actually could hear clear separation and surround effects, so now I’m curious:
- How bad is this setup realistically?
- How much performance am I losing because of the room layout?
- What are the biggest acoustic/layout problems here?
- If I can only make VERY small changes, what would give the biggest improvement?
- Should I adjust any Q990F settings/channel levels manually?
- Should I angle the rear speakers toward the listening position?
- Any recommended settings
Unfortunately, I can’t fully redesign the room or move furniture around too much, but if something is really worth doing, I’ll definitely consider it.
Thanks in advance — I’m still learning all of this.
