General question about lead positions/scheduling in restaurants, I just work as a busser so I’m curious how this usually works. I work at a buffet that opened last month, so we’re still figuring out our system. We recently got 2 busser leads (one for AM and one for PM) but sometimes management schedules both leads for the same shift. Today was Mother’s Day and both leads were scheduled PM, while AM had no lead even though we got slammed like 30 minutes after opening. I’m assuming they want as much help as possible for dinner rush, which makes sense, but having no lead during Sunday brunch/weekend/church rush feels a little questionable to me. Is that normal scheduling logic or nah?
(AM is from 10:30 to 4:30; PM is from 4:30 to 10:30-11:00)
