4in makes a big diff :-)

I love the MD 500. My favorite helicopter ever. When this RTF version became available, it was a must-have. It looks 95% scale right out the box. The extra 4 in makes me happy. (That's what she said).

I was able to do a handful of successful flights. Cannot wait to get to the airfield this weekend.

The tale boom extension was printed in lightweight PLA, reinforced with carbon fiber rods and held on by epoxy resin.

I added a dollar worth of coins to the nose, and push the battery all the way forward. It flies good so far it has been super windy and I get home late so haven't been able to get any great photos, stay tuned.

MD-500D Magnum PI Super Scale 470

Just received the MD500 Magnum PI design edition from Rodan.

This fuselage is beautiful. The lighting accessory kit is amazing.

The only trouble I've been having so far is with the telemetry. The voltage indicator on the helicopter is always at half full even though the batteries 100%

I'm thinking this is causing premature return to home triggers.

If anybody has an idea on how to recalibrate this setting please let me know.

The other issue I had is with the tail it's not proportional to the size of the helicopter. If you look out there other bigger models all of the tails are longer.

I have disassembled the stock model tail mount.

I am currently designing and 3D printing and extension motor mount that makes the fuselage look more to scale.

Hear a few prototypes so far.

Going to be using lightweight PLA reinforced with two part epoxy resin and then painted.

I had to extend the brushless motor wires and the rear beacon light wires.
