Healthcare vs Marketing

Hi everyone.

I’ve been admitted into NYU for a MS in IMC. I’m rlly interested in attending so I can work corporate marketing and eventually own a business/ create business to sell. If attending NYU, I plan to connect and engage on campus activities, intern every break at a company where I can enhance targeted skills so that way after the 18mo, I’ll be super ahead in terms of skills, experience, and knowledge.

Controversy I was in a nursing program (full ride) but withdrew due to burnout and stress etc. I reapplied and had been admitted but unable to get the scholarship due to the new change in the law so there’s limited funding. After being readmitted (16mo long program), there aren’t any funding available so I’d have to takeout a loan as well.

With the new law, graduate students are admitted 20.5k per academic year (100k) so with both programs I’d only be eligible for 20.5k maybe another 20.5k since it’s a little over 1 year for both.

Obviously the ROI for nursing is a given, healthcare is always needed. NYU grads are employed (96% are hired post graduate by 6months).

My dilemma is passion vs stability.

I think I can be a great nurse, and do my job well but I will be extremely unfulfilled (I think- I can’t handle a lot of blood etc and I’m extremely empathetic to the point where it exhausts me. I have sometimes compassion fatigued etc. but I also hate being broke.

When I withdrew from nursing, I didn’t even think about the economic state of the country, which if I did I would’ve thugged it out! So now I’m at a dilemma. If I can go back to nursing school, (I’m seeking to start in May to take advantage of loan though I have been approved to start in fall).

Should I go to nursing school, be diligent for 16 months and start as a new grad after. Don’t disregard tho that it is an ABSN (accelerated) program so it’s extremely difficult and a lot of work.

Or

Should I go to NYU.

Ugh I don’t know! People in my family support me on either side (not financially, just my decision).

I do like the lifestyle nursing would offer me, but I’d also like the work I’d do in marketing.

Given the state of the economy, it’s giving do the hard work of becoming a nurse then go back to school for marketing but for some reason I still want to go to NYU which looking back I’ve been constantly making tb wrong decisions so idk.

I’m currently broke af, I work but paycheck to paycheck. I’m planning on getting a serving job but in this economy it’s been inconsistent to land ones I have experience.

So guys what should I do….
