For some background, I quit my role in the benefits administration industry in March, due to burnout after 2 years. Despite being on track to promotion, I could tell that seniority there just meant the same impossible deadlines with a larger workload and messier assignments. No new skills to learn. It was a sort of project management role and I always brought it home with me mentally.
I am a quick learner, thorough, dependable, and sharp. Throughout my career, I have stood out and promptly been identified as an exceptional employee. I care about the work I put out. Unfortunately, that usually leads to stretching myself too thin. I want to find a role that cultivates my growth but doesn’t feel like my soul is being sucked out of me. Which leads to my current two job prospects…
Company A Pros: •Same wage as previous position, around $26-27 •New industry (real estate investment/development) •Many options for health insurance
Cons: •During interview #2 with VP of the department, she stated that the company “restructures and reorgs a lot, so you should be comfortable with the uncomfortable and lots of change”. This really shook me up.
Company B Pros: •simple data entry role •new industry (logistics) •lots of room for growth and learning other roles since the job usually gets done early in the day •same commute distance as Company A
Cons: •significant pay cut ($21/hr) •only offers Kaiser
No offer letters yet, but the in-person interview today with Company B went very well, and the team was very friendly. Any advice?
