Study abroad at Hankuk - live near campus or in a busier area (Hongdae, Seongsu, etc.)?
Hey everyone,
I’m doing a study abroad semester at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies starting in August, and I’m trying to decide where to live.
We’ll probably only have around 3 classes, so I’m wondering:
- Is it better to live close to HUFS (for convenience, meeting other exchange students, campus life, etc.)
- Or is it smarter to live in busier areas like Hongdae, Seongsu-dong, etc. where there’s more nightlife, cafes, and things to do?
For those of you who have done an exchange at HUFS (or another Seoul uni):
- Did you stay near the university or in another neighborhood?
- Where did most other exchange students live?
- Did people usually hang out around campus, or did you mostly go to other areas of Seoul to go out and do things?
Any recommendations or personal experiences would be super helpful, especially about commute times, social life, and what you wish you had chosen.
Thanks in advance!
