My iPhone 14 Pro Max randomly shuts down/restarts — analytics showing baseband/modem resets. Any idea what the issue could be?
My iPhone 14 Pro Max has recently started shutting down or restarting suddenly. Sometimes it freezes for a second and then reboots with the Apple logo.
I checked the analytics logs and found repeated entries related to:
- Baseband requested rfs sync via indication
- ResetModem
- PowerCycleModem
- CommCenter: TelephonyBaseband
The logs seem to suggest modem/baseband crashes or cellular subsystem resets.
A few more details from analytics:
- Battery health data in logs:
- MaximumCapacityPercent: 101
- CycleCount: 40
- No major thermal panic entries
- Battery disconnect count is 0
- iOS version: 26.4.2
Things I’ve noticed:
- Happens randomly
- Sometimes while on mobile data
- Signal can occasionally fluctuate
- Device is not overheating badly
- No obvious battery drain issue
From what I understand, this might be:
- carrier/SIM issue
- iOS/baseband firmware bug
- modem/baseband hardware issue
Has anyone experienced something similar on the 14 Pro Max? Did resetting network settings, changing SIM/eSIM, or reinstalling iOS fix it? Or did it end up being a hardware issue?
Would appreciate any help before I take it to Apple.
