Has anyone in the South African theatre community actually been given a clear update on the 2026 Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards?
From what I can see, there has been no public announcement of nominations, no confirmed ceremony details, and no formal communication explaining whether the awards are postponed, restructured, or discontinued.
Given the scale and history of these awards, this level of silence feels unusual. If the institution is still operating as normal, where is the basic public-facing information cycle? If it isn’t, why is there no transparency about that?
This isn’t speculation about motives. It’s a straightforward question about communication failure in one of the country’s key theatre institutions.
