got fired from job 3 days in training even tho i did nothing wrong.. im so confused
Basically, I worked in a boba/tea/dessert shop that I won't name and I went through the interview and everything and the manager contacted me back about a week later letting me know that I got in and would start the next day which was Tuesday. I was super excited because it was in a nice location and paid $18 per hour + tips and that's rly good since I am only a HS student. Btw, there were other 16 and 17 yr olds working here so my age was def not a problem.
My supervisor was the one to train me and I'd say i did remotely good and kept up as best as possible. I was learning the drinks still so I only did the more basic and simple ones and each day my supervisor would teach me how to make new drinks and quiz me. I also got along rly well with him, my coworkers, and was polite to my manager whenever I saw him, which wasn't often since he was working at another cafe owned by the cafe I was working at.
I worked Tues, Thurs, and Friday. I got my clock in code from my manager on Friday and parking code for extra parking from my supervisor on friday as well. So I assumed that i'd be working the following week for continued training because the manager told me that training was 4 weeks and then there'd be a test i'd have to take to pass and be "officially" hired ??? but also I am getting paid for the days I worked during training.
This Monday night, i received a text from my manager, thinking it was my schedule but instead he told me that there were very bad news, and that the boss hired more people so they didn't have any training spots left for me. Boom. Fired, just like that. I asked him if I did something wrong, and he said I was doing ok and still in the passing line.
So i was very confused and sad because this job wasn't that bad and I was learning and adapting quickly and I loved my coworkers and being a barista. He told me that i would get paid for the days i did work and will pick up my paycheck by next friday. he also told me that if a spot opens up, he'd let me know. i told him that if he and the boss gave me another chance to work there, i wouldn't disappoint them and even if I wouldn't get a lot of hours, I would be more than happy to work there. he hearted the message. Now i'm just looking for other jobs in the meantime and waiting for the date to go pick up my check.
i was obviously devastated, but i'm also so so confused. When I applied, it was through email to the boss. the boss told me to come in for an interview, and then I met with the manager. he was 10 mins late to the interview but i didn't rly mind as long as i got the job. i drive myself to work as well so ik that my transportation wasn't a problem, also cus my coworker told me she took public transport.
fyi, when i worked, he didn't sign my work permit until 1 day after i already started working. this institution also didn't give me or my coworkers our legally required 10 minute breaks, and i was working 6-7 hrs each day, on school nights, without a real break.
I'm still rly sad about this and if they reached out to me about a spot opening, i would continue to work there as it is a nice cafe, in a nice location, nice coworkers and supervisor, and isn't too far from my house and school. In the meantime, i just finished a job interview for a restaurant and i have another one next thurs for an ice cream place. wish me luck ... but also could anyone reading this who has more experience give me their take on this situation? ty for reading
