Current senior here. No sugarcoating.
If you’re choosing this place just for the “IIM” tag, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment.
This is literally premium fees, budget experience.
Hostel / Stay situation is a mess
There’s no proper hostel for 1st years. You’ll be put in faculty housing.
Sounds fine? It’s not.
4BHK flats → overloaded with people
Rooms shared, hall converted into another room with partitions
Earlier 2 per room, now worse
Privacy is basically nonexistent. You’re just adjusting all the time.
Campus is dead
Mostly barren land.
No proper sports facilities. Like genuinely nothing meaningful.
For a B-school charging this much, it’s embarrassing.
Administration is on a power trip
Gate closes around 9:30 pm
No entries after that
No food deliveries
Boys/girls interaction restrictions
Then come the fines:
Alcohol → ₹1 lakh
Cigarette → ₹50k
And the way checks happen is insane. Guards just walk into rooms with cameras and sticks like they’re doing some raid.
You’re treated less like MBA students and more like school kids.
Academics are nothing special
You’ll hear “IIM = top faculty” - reality is very different.
Some professors are decent, but overall:
Teaching is average
Curriculum feels outdated
Most learning is self-driven
Basically, you’re paying for a brand, not an academic experience.
Food is straight up bad
Mess food is inconsistent and mostly disappointing.
“Special menu” once a month is supposed to be exciting.
They once tried making baklava and somehow ended up serving something like patties with cherry stuffing.
That should tell you everything.
Events are underwhelming
Low budget setups
Basic speakers/lights
Everything shut down early
Doesn’t feel like a top B-school fest at all. Feels like a random college event.
Sports & extracurriculars = almost zero
No proper infra
No real support
Even basic things like jerseys aren’t provided sometimes
If you’re into sports, you’re going to hate it here.
Placements - reality check
Not as great as portrayed.
People are still unplaced.
And yes, same internal politics and chaos you hear about in newer IIMs.
The “IIM tag” is not saving anyone here.
Final reality
You’ll come here thinking “I made it to an IIM”.
Then slowly realize:
you’re paying a huge amount just to adjust in every aspect of life - stay, food, campus, everything.
I personally regret choosing this place.
Not saying don’t come at all, but if you have similar options, please don’t pick this blindly for the tag.

First IEM – Tangzu Wan’er SG2 Red Lion
After going through tons of YouTube and Reddit reviews, I finally picked the Tangzu Wan’er SG2 Red Lion.
Realized I’m not an audiophile—I just want to enjoy music. Tried my cousin’s Sony XM series headphones and wanted something close (within budget), so went with IEMs.
Also picked up a wireless DAC since I use an iPhone 14 Pro Max + iPad (no Lightning/Type-C hassle).
Saw a few posts about QC issues in newer Red Lion batches… hoping mine turns out fine 🤞
Quick questions:
Is burn-in actually needed?
Any beginner mistakes to avoid?
Should i consider changing the IEM with some other one(obviously in the same budget)?
