Hi everyone, I’m a 26-year-old adult learner returning to math a long break due to family circumstances :). I’ve recently started How to Prove It by Velleman and I’m absolutely loving the rigor—it’s a side of math I never knew existed.

I just finished Chapter 2 (Quantificational Logic). The reading goes quickly, but the exercises are dense. I’ve noticed that only the asterisked problems have solutions in the back. To keep my momentum up, I’m considering doing only the asterisked exercises and skipping the rest.

  • For those who have finished the book: Is this enough to build the "proof muscles" needed for later chapters?
  • Am I missing out on essential concepts or the "fun" of the challenge by skipping the others?

Thanks for the help!
