Hygiene at Namma Metro Stations
What did I just witness at the Majestic Metro Station, Platform 4, during rush hour around 5:45 PM?
A woman was changing her baby’s diaper while seated on the platform floor — not in a designated area, but right there on the platform itself. The soiled diaper was left open on the floor, and the smell spread across the area during peak commuter traffic.
This genuinely raises a concern about hygiene and public sanitation in crowded public spaces like metro stations. Aren’t there designated baby-care or changing facilities available at metro stations? If not, perhaps there should be clearer signage or better awareness for passengers.
Metro platforms are shared public spaces used by thousands of commuters every day, and maintaining basic hygiene standards is important for everyone’s comfort and safety.
