CA Form 593 Real Estate Sale After Probate
I need some help with filling out the CA form 593 for a house I am selling that was inherited through probate from my mother. She passed unexpectedly with no will or estate or transfer on file. My brother and I had to go to court to have her home transferred to us by means of succession which essentially skipped formal probate. We are selling the home and most of the way through escrow. We are being asked to fill out the 593 form to figure out if and how we are exempt. From what I understand, we should be exempt since it is inherited and also was her primary residence. What I'm not sure is on the form there are several boxes which seem to be the appropriate ones to check. Does anyone have a solid answer for this scenario? Also when the house was appraised for court it came in 15k below what we are selling it for now. Thanks in advance for any help!
