This is my first attempt at a canna grow. I have done a ton of research, used 3 AI to gather a ton of information, watched videos etc. was hoping for some real guidance on what you think about where I’m at so far.
Chose to do DWC in a 2x4. I live outside of Denver so I have an ac infinity humidifier, inline fan, oscillating fan, hooked through a controller 69.
Light is a vivarapectre xs4000. Also have a small heater keeping temp in the upper 70’s.
Seed in paper towel to germinate and day 3 had root exposed 1/2” or so. Placed in a rapid rooter, in a red solo cup with Hydroten and small holes around the bottom portion.
Currently at Day 5 in rapid rooter (8 overall) and this is what it looks like, am guessing I had the light too high or too dim initially that led to some stem stretching, once I adjusted the light (reading about 270 ppfd) the stem straightened out and looks better in think.
I’ve noticed a few roots starting to show coming out of the rapid rooter.
When I move this to the net pots in the dwc, how high do I fill the bucket so that water is hitting the roots? I understand the roots eventually grow into the bucket and water; however, when I first place it in, I doubt the roots will be touching the water. Do the hydroten pellets absorb and pass along water? If they don’t how high do I fill it so the roots get water but not water logged?
