Both "Succession" and "The Boys" did a spectacular job setting up their respective main antagonist. (spoilers)

Logan Roy and Homelander are introduced in their respective shows as either non-threatening and kind, while the rest of the cast are deplorable human beings. It's as if the show is leading us to believe they're meant to be the exception to the rule regarding powerful people, that not all of them are corrupt, inviting us to a more nuance look at them.

Then they slowly reveal themselves to us in a very organic manner, showing not telling. That not only are they just as bad as the rest, they're far worse. Setting up the main conflict throughout the rest of the shows.

I know this doesn't sound too extravagant but there are shows out there, right outta the pilot, where they straight up show you who's the villain, and don't try to make us like them.
