Yaki Investigation-Defeat Xenon Attackers

I got to the point where I'm in Savage Spur I, but as soon as I went through the gate my cover was blown. My mission updated to defeating the Xenon attackers. I boosted past them and ran like hell thinking I could just outrun them, but apparently defeating them is required. Since my cover was blown, every Xenon near me jumped me as well. I can manage to kill one or two of the attackers, but get destroyed by the hordes. Is there a trick to this? Unfortunately I saved after I ran away so my most recent save is with the hordes chasing me. Any advice?

Edit-I'm in the Katana.

Edit 2-I got it. >!I reloaded an older save and went through the whole asteroid base thing again. When I got to the Xenon attack I stuck it out at the gate. Kendai Orcanic sends some Yaki pilots to help out.!<

Top Gun Pilot School

Top Gun Pilot School

I set up a pilot training program in Hatikvah’s Choice I. I used the vanilla Hyperion as the school commander (mainly for the tank and turret support) and gave it 2 wings of “students”. Each wing consists of a Quasar Vanguard (commander) and 4 Elite Vanguards. All loaded with the best gear money can buy.

I gave the school commander the protect position command between the gate to Tharka’s Cascade XV and the superhighway. The school runs in fire and forget mode while I run around doing missions with another small fleet. Every once in a while I’ll check their progress and “graduate” any pilot that has reached 3 stars. They go into a subordinate job as marine or service crew or sent to a transport for advanced auto-trading, and the next pilot in line (closet to 3 stars) is promoted into pilot.

Any idle ships I have go to the school to keep them busy until I need them.

If a large fleet comes through the gate with a couple of destroyers, I’ll back them off to let the locals soften them up before sending them back in. I also have a Pegasus Vanguard with the fastest engine and thruster available set on auto repeat of collecting drops on the school grounds. Every 5^(th) loot cycle they’ll make a drop off of their wares at headquarters. The looter also has the individual instruction to run like hell if they’re attacked.

This seems to be working as intended. I don’t have to worry about seminars (though if I come across them I’ll certainly use them). I have a pretty good supply of 3+ star pilots and a never ending supply of loot to sell or use for crafting. I also get a lot of abandoned ships I can sell or use. Every once in a while I’ll lose a ship, but I can usually rescue most of the crew.

What are you all’s thoughts on this? Are there better or more efficient ways to mass level pilots?
