Duterte supporters spread false information

Congressman Kiko Barzaga claimed that "multiple" people died after several gunshots were heard inside the Senate building on Wednesday evening, May 13.

In a now-deleted post, Barzaga wrote: “Multiple dead after gunfight within Senate building, will confirm later."

The lawmaker's post was shared by thousands of his followers, including pro-Duterte vlogger Krizette Chu.

In a video posted on Thursday, May 14, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) warned the public against spreading fake news and inciting violence following the Senate chaos.

“Sinumang mapapatunayang nagambag o nagudyok sa pagpapakalat ng maling impormasyon online at karahasan ay hindi palalagpasin ng CICC [Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center] at sisiguraduhin na mapapatawan ng karampatang parusa." | RLL/#IMTNEWS

"Itago niyo ang CCTV" Jinggoy Estrada. NBI Bodycam

Jinggoy Estrada wanted the CCTV withheld, while some majority bloc senators were moving to secure it. Either way, it shows how important the footage is. Unfortunately for them, NBI also has bodycam footage.

Let’s see if the PNP can do a credible and fair investigation here. OSAA’s Aplasca already lied in the news, so the evidence should matter more than press statements.

Cayetano also questioned why the NBI was investigating if they were supposedly involved, but based on current reports, no official NBI agent fired the shots. The suspect was reportedly a volunteer driver, not a regular NBI employee.

This needs a clean investigation, not political damage control.

Was Bato Dela Rosa really linked to the Tadtad cult?

I’ve been seeing claims that Bato Dela Rosa was linked to Tadtad/Sagrado Corazon, a violent anti-communist cult/paramilitary group in Mindanao known for vigilante violence. Some posts even claim he was a handler or high-ranking figure, but I’m trying to separate verified info from recycled claims.

Does anyone have solid sources on Bato’s actual role, if any? I know Tadtad itself was real and notorious, but I want to know how well-documented Bato’s connection is.

WALA PA PONG KRIMINAL DITO [SA SENADO]’ Robin said

WALA PA PONG KRIMINAL DITO [SA SENADO]’

Sen. Padilla kay Sen. Dela Rosa: Hindi siya kriminal... Wala pa pong kriminal dito [sa Senado].

Technically, Robin Padilla was a convicted person who later received pardon. So “wala pang kriminal dito sa Senado” sounds ironic coming from him, given his own past conviction.

This was from Dec. 2023 House hearing on SMNI, where Jay Sonza said he was being paid ₱1 million per month as a consultant for broadcast operations.

I think it’s worth bringing up again because people often treat pro-Duterte media personalities as if they were just random commentators online. But SMNI had broadcast reach, political influence, and was paying serious money to people pushing their narratives.

Philippines' Duterte lands insulting blow on boxer Pacquiao

By Reuters July 1, 2021

...Pacquiao has recently railed at corruption in government as well as the president's friendly relationship with China.

"When you are a champion in boxing, it does not mean to say that you are a champion in politics," Duterte told a media briefing. "He is blubbering his mouth."

Pacquiao, 42, had long been among Duterte's strongest supporters, but is seen as a possible contender when Duterte's single six-year term ends.

Duterte asked why the boxer-turned-lawmaker was only talking about corruption now - and said he should focus on investigating graft rather than leaving the country to prepare for a fight next month.

"I would say that you are shit," Duterte said. "Start investigating. Comply first with your duty as senator. Don't be absent."

Not sure if anyone else noticed this, but there are old clips of Cayetano discussing media strategy with Mocha Uson, and then his “talunin niyo na lang sa 2028” line in the Senate sounds almost identical sa script na paulit-ulit sinasabi ng pro-Duterte commenters online, kaya ang hirap paniwalaan na organic lang ito at hindi bahagi ng isang coordinated media strategy.
