Brittany ferries more expensive with bike than car!
crazy, but with 3 people either on foot or with bikes is £615 from Plymouth to Santander (no cabin). Want to keep the price down? Easy, just take your car instead and reduce the price to £521. How it can it possibly be cheaper to take a 2 ton car than 3 bikes (or in fact nothing)?
