A little context to my book: It’s a dark paranormal romance where the FMC is a badass that’s basically the boogeyman to the paranormal. While it’s a romance, I’m not taking the normal route of making the FMC helpless and scared. She’s going to be powerful and good at what she does right from the second chapter. She has been a live for a very long time, so her outlook and personality will reflect that.

The MMC is going to be obsessed with her, but in a “you’re a goddess” type of way. There is going to be banter, action (they are both assassins going for the same target at the start).

I want the opening chapter to be a glimpse of the past that shows how the MFC became what she is. I want her to be a failed sacrifice to a goddess that makes her what she is (kinda like The Crow). There is no SA or CNC of any kind in this book.

My problem is, is that I don’t know how to introduce the opening chapter. What scene would yall start with? Would you write a chill opening scene that devolves into madness, or would you go straight to madness? Would you start it with a question, the MCs senses, emotions?

Any and all advice is welcome!
