Purely hypothetically, given that removal of said is illegal. If a 651 engine had had this done at 50k miles and then driven for a further 40k over a period of years by someone with a laughably light right foot and a meticulous attitude to servicing and maintenance would you consider this a positive?

Assuming you know the car, the workshop and the owner intimately and there is no doubt that the above is true.

I have never owned or worked on a diesel and egr, adblue and dpf disgust me. Feeding an engine it's own farts is an affront to the laws of god and man.

Am I wrong to think the engine is happier without them?
