Best way to restore pagan Egypt from a rp perspective
Long time lurker on this sub, really would love some advice from ck3 veterans.
I have never played as an African culture other than Guanche/Canaries so I wanted to try a restore ancient Egypt campaign.
I started out as a Kushitic Beja, painstakingly conquered my neighbors while dodging aggressive Muslim and Christian neighbors, reformed Kushitism to include divine marriage/Xwedodah and legalism with an organized priesthood (theocratic, spiritual), and of course changing funerary practices from burial to mummification and legalizing witchcraft.
After increasing my levies size I successfully captured enough Egyptian territory to hybridize with Egyptian culture and subsequently moved my capital to Cairo, changing my primary title to Egypt.
Suffice it to say I am a little disappointed. I understand I’m probably being too nit-picky considering this game is supposed to take place in the post-classical period, and there’s a limit to how much customization it available to players, but I’m very bummed by (among other things):
the priests looking like tribal shamans, the aesthetic still looking blatantly Arab/East African, the lack of ‘traditional’ (Kemetic) Egyptian names (my first head of faith/high priest was even named Muhammad), and overall lack of more Egypt-centered roleplay options other than unite Africa.
With all that being said I wanted to ask anyone else in here who have played much more dedicated Egypt restoration runs whether I should continue with my current campaign and tolerate the nuances unique to the situation or if I should abandon this campaign and retry as a Scotsman or Ivar in order to complete the Mythic tier of the Scota legend.
What do you guys think?
