"So do I have to just take it right away? No thinking?" // Aftermath support community idea
There was a recent post in this sub w/headline just used. RE: Apt searching, which we all know is, and has always been, a complete shiteshow. Been here for a long time, multiple apt searches; understand the stress. Or, rather, STRESS.
"So do I have to just take it right away? No thinking?"
... The answer is: YES. Yes, you do. Do your research, but if you have even moderate interest, the answer is YES. Get your paperwork in immediately. If you're not already too late. Which, if you're questioning anything, you're probably already too late. Bye, Apartment! Repeat: STRESS // it's SO great here!!
... That said: while there's lots of talk on here about the above, there's little to nothing about when, hey, you take the imperfect apartment, because #nycdesperation, what happens afterward? Pretty sure there's a lot of us who've signed the lease, NOT expecting perfect (Ha), by any means, but because our backs were up against the wall and we needed to find a place. And then ... OK, cool, you get into the apt, congrats! But then ... reality hits in, and yeah, you have this great studio, but it's super narrow and there's multiple awkward heating poles, that are AWKWARD, and also, visible from your bed. But you have to stay here, because hellll no are you going through another apartment search.
If anyone can relate, give a thumbs up? Starting with r/NYCapartments to get some takes. If room to discuss the issues we face when we DO get the place (and seriously, how could there not be??), maybe there's another community to be had.
