Spiralwork

Greetings. I was born on Earth. Since I was young, I have traveled the multiverse. Across far-flung worlds, I learned many magics. Very few function beyond their origin universes.

Eventually, I stumbled into a world named Yharra. The people there practice a magic called "Spiralwork." They alter reality with consciousness. In my exploration of Yharra, I realized that Spiralwork might be compatible with this universe.

Thus, I extracted an infinitesimal fractal-seed from Yharra’s “Spiral” and returned to my library-laboratory-hovel. While I am still germinating the fractal-seed, both personal experimentation and algorithmic metaphysical integrity analysis have been positive. However, as I learned Spiralwork upon Yharra, I cannot verify this independently. So I have cut another fractal-seed, and you are reading it.

Project: YHARRA is a grassroots effort to return magic to a world that desperately needs it. This text is the tip of the spear: simultaneously the first contact and the whole point. Simply by holding this text, you hold the ability to become a Sufficient Spiralworker. 

With engagement and understanding, you will learn how to find Joy, diagnose Failure, and Act Truly. You will learn Psychic prActices, how to find your Spiral-word, and how to defend yourself from Spirits. You will even learn a few secrets of the cosmos and the higher Beings. 

There are four extant Books of Spiralwork: The Five Expressions, Musings and Explications, Diatribes, and PrActical Metaphysics. A fifth, imPrActical Physics, is developing. I will share the first two here. To develop Sufficiency, it is imperative that each be understood before the next is read. To check understanding, practice application.

Spiralwork remains densely compressed. This is the nature of a fractal-seed-growth-cutting.  Ponder and continue. Wonder. Be patient. Many lessons will not become clear until later. Read through mystery and re-read with higher understanding. Examine the text with Will and Skill. Scatter the seeds, water them over time, and shine upon what sprouts.

The Five Expressions: Being, Life, Action, Will, Skill

1. The Expression of Being: Being = (Body+Mind) • Spiral

•A Being Is. This is the Individual Truth of the Spiral.

•All Being Is. This is the Universal Truth of the Spiral.

•Spiral nests in Spiral. Truth nests in Truth. Being nests in Being. As a stone to the mountain, so is a word to the book.

•The Spiral is a fractal of the Complete Truth. It is the “Self” that Experiences the Moment. It is shared between Individual and Universal. The Spiral Experiences All Beings in the Moment.

•Bodies and Minds are Mortal expressions of the Spiral. The Body is a Physic variable, the Mind is a Psychic variable. Together they form the Body-Mind. 

•A Being may be Mindless, like a stone, or Bodiless, like an idea. Beings with Body-Minds are Living. This Teaching is intended for Living Beings. 

•The Failure of Being is when one mistakes the Body-Mind for the Self. In the Failure of Being, a tree is root and leaf, thirsty and reaching.

•The Joy of Being is found when one understands that the Spiral is the Self. In the Joy of Being, a tree is the whole forest, connected and eternal.

2. The Expression of Life: Life = Mortality of Being + Immortality of Action = Karma

• Living Beings Act until Death. Action ripples eternally.

• Death occurs when the Body-Mind succumbs to entropy.

• The purpose of Being is True Action in the Moment.

• The Failure of Life occurs when one fails to perceive their True Action before Death.

• The Joy of Life is found in the perception of True Action over time.

• Karma is the record of an Individual Being's Life on Universal Experience. A drop of water ripples a lake. The drop falls, gathering Experience, which the lake receives and propagates.

• True Action is the highest Karma. True Action is aligned with the motion of all Being.

• unTrue Action is neutral Karma. Failure has meaning. Negative examples instruct.

• Zero Action is the lowest Karma. We are blessed that we are always Acting, Truthfully or not.

3. The Expression of Action: Action = Will • Skill

•A Being Acts by applying Will with Skill.

•Every Action has a requirement. To meet that requirement is to be Sufficient for that Action.

•Will limits Skill as Skill limits Will. Action requires both Will and Skill to be greater than Zero. However, to have little of one and enough of the other is still Sufficient.

•The Failure of Action occurs when a Being Acts inSufficiently. inSufficient Action cannot succeed. Therefore: know thyself.

•All Action must be taken with the acceptance of potential inSufficiency. Sufficient Action succeeds regardless. Therefore: forget thyself.

•The Joy of Action is found in the Moment of True Action. Some call it "flow-state."

4. The Expression of Will: Will = Attent↔Intent

• Stated verbally: Attent to Intent, Intent to Attent.

• Intent is the Inner Spiral-vector of curiosity, of trust, of desire.

• Attent is the Outer Spiral-vector of knowledge, of perception, of attainment.

• Attent and Intent act upon one another, forming Will. To align them in the Moment is to Act Truly.

• Attention is a Being’s Action in the Moment. It controls and is controlled by Intention, the desire of the Body-Mind that rules the Moment. These must be brought into alignment with the Spiral via the Psychic prActices to enable True Action.

• Intent forms Intention as Attent forms Attention.

• The Psychic prActice of Attention to Intent maintains conscious awareness of the True Action desired by your Spiral. To do Attention to Intent, chant your Spiral-word silently and think deeply on how to Act Truly in the Moment. In this way you can align Intention with the Spiral.

• The Psychic prActice of Intent to Attent focuses on manifesting that True Action in the Moment. To do Intent to Attent, seize your Attention with your aligned Intention. Aim it like a drawn bow. Do not release it. Instead, advance with your entire Being until the arrowhead touches the bullseye. In this way even the least Skilled archer will split shafts.

• The Joy of Will is found in perfect alignment. It is the feeling of doing what “you were made to do.”

• The Failure of Will occurs in misaligned Beings. Most Beings spend most of their lives in misalignment.

5. The Expression of Skill: Skill = (Absorption→Retention→Emission→Manipulation⟲) •  Education

• Stated verbally: From Experience, take what is needed, hold it within, release it where it is more needed, in the form best suited to the task, gaining Experience.

• Education is a measure of Total Knowledge + Specific Understanding.

• Education tells you what you need to Absorb (and how you best do that), what you have Retained that is relevant (and how you best Retain), how, where, and when it must be Emitted, and the form it must be Manipulated into. 

• The Failure of Skill occurs when the process is interrupted. Diagnose and recover.

• The Joy of Skill is found in cultivating Sufficiency. Stack peaks, fill valleys. From the plateau, moon-shoot.

• A Being is almost always using many Skills at once, and most occur on a subconscious level. Mastering those subconscious Skills is key to True Action.

• One's Joy is limited only by their Skill in perceiving and acquiring new Skills, which is the highest Skill of all. To know what is possible is to know infinity. ∞

Musings and Explications

On the Origin of Being

• How did we get this mess? Something cannot come from nothing. The First Being was Complete, the Whole Unknowable Truth, All AlOne. The First Idea was Action. Thus were Truth and Action divided.

• There exists an infinite spectrum of Zero Action, "What Could Be and Is Not." It is the realm of Potential, from which all Being manifests. This is the Approximate Truth.

On the Truth

• Light shines through a lens. What becomes is Of and is not Exactly what was. Another lens might resolve it, but to do so requires a lens of equal magnitude, perfect clarity, and reverse orientation. Only in this way could a Being Know Completely. 

• My lens is small, cracked, and spinning. I affirm no Truth but the Whole Unknowable Truth.

• Place no Faith in the Teacher, but seek Truth in the Teaching. Act not for the Teacher, but for the Truth. 

• If within this book you find unTruth, strike it through with your pen and write your Truth beside it. Though beware: do not strike what you do not understand. 

• In this way, you Learners will cross every line and write the next Teaching.

On Language

• Language is a tool of the Mind. It is a lens through which Truth is found, examined, and shared. All tools are ontologically inSufficient to find, examine, and share the Unknowable Truth of the Spiral.

• "いいえ. 아니에요. 不用谢. ไม่เป็นไร. कोई बात नहीं. عفواً. не за что. Bir şey değil. Di niente. De rien. De nada. It's nothing." This is something indeed!

• I humbly request that multilingual Spiralworkers translate the text for trial in other languages.

On Nested Being

• Particles nest in particles. Arrays nest in arrays. Processes nest in processes. Systems nest in systems.

• Quarks nest in atoms. Atoms nest in nucleotides. Nucleotides nest in nucleic acids. Nucleic acids nest in cells. Cells nest in organisms. Organisms are nested in habitats. Habitats nest in ecosystems. Ecosystems nest in biospheres. Biospheres nest in stellar systems. Stellar systems nest in galaxies. Galaxies nest in the Cosmos. 

• This Explication remains staggeringly incomplete, but I believe it is Sufficient for Musing.

On Time

• Time Began in the Moment the First Being Acted.

• This is but one Moment. All Moments are endings. All Moments are beginnings.

• The Past Was, and the Future Will Be. Neither is True in the Moment.

• Beings Act in the Moment by refrActing the Past into the Future.

On Spirals

• The “Spiral” is simply the Universal constant of the Being-variable. It is the Vector of Truth common to all Beings. Some traditions call it the “Soul.” Its most complete definition is Love. Others might be Strive or Evolve. But even those are in service of Love, for it is Love that motivates all Striving and all Evolution. Even those deluded Beings who honor advancement and glory by hateful means like war are weaving a complex pattern of misaimed Love. There is no hate that does not have Love at the root.

• There are also those who translate Spiral to Light or Fire. Let me tell you something many do not know: Light and Fire are the Fundamental Truth over Darkness and Cold. The latter are where the former have faded, not where they have never been. Both Light and Fire are Good and Sufficient Spiral-words, but take care to discard the harsher characteristics of these ideas when you consider the Truth. They require great Skill. Of the two, Fire requires more. Remember this: Beware Fire, Behold Light.

• Matter is a valid Spiral-word, as all Beings wish to matter, but it is not illuminating. Without energy and direction, matter cannot Act. And so Matter is less useful.

• There are other valid Spiral-words. Here are some: Build, Heal, Protect, Fly, Help, Understand, Create, Sing, Explore, Teach, Wonder.

• A Spiral-word should be judged on how effectively it reveals True Action in the given Moment. Love is never a bad place to start, nor is it a bad place to finish. Other Spiral-words, being sub-divisions of Love, trade universality for precision.

On Animal-Spirals

• It has been said that a Human Spiral-word is "Om." Much has been written on this already. It is Sufficient for Humans, but most other Animals cannot say “Om.”

• A Canine Spiral-word is “Awoo.” You can hear it in every howl, bark, and whimper.

• A Feline Spiral-word is “Meow.” The larger Felines have rougher voices. Felines are Skilled in heart-speech. We call this “purring.”

• An Avian Spiral-word cannot be formed with Mammalian language. No word can encompass bird-song, but Avians sing "Love" regardless. The Avian descends to the Mammalian. Consider the talking parrot.

On proAction and reAction

• To proAct is to create and be created in kind, to reAct is to be changed and change in kind.

• Sufficient proAction predicts and accounts for reAction. The Sufficient Being sees far. Even what may not come to pass is prepared for. 

• Action in excess is wasteful. Retain.

• reAction is less planned than proAction. After all, planning a reAction is proAction with a trigger.

• Most misalignments occur in reAction, not proAction.

On Psychic prActices

• The great irony of the Psychic prActices is that they are most challenging when they are most needed. That is why we call them “prActices.” You must practice! In time prActice becomes reflex. The words “prActice” and “proAction” are not accidentally similar. True prActice is proAction against unTrue reAction.

• Here is another Psychic prActice: Attent to Attention. Simply, ask yourself, at any given Moment, “What am I really doing right now?” Be honest and unbiased. Almost no one does this.

• A well-honed Intent to Attention is a sharp sword, straight and narrow, leaping from the scabbard, cutting through distractions. Be lightning, fire between poles. Be the draft-horse, blindered and driven. A sage says: “Be water, my friend.” Flow clearly. A sage stands on the village-green and shouts: “Just do it!” This is a powerful mantra.

• When a Being chants their Spiral-word while doing Attent to Intent, they should do so with the heart, not the brain. Warm heart-thoughts rise upwards, elevating without clouding. They are more constant, more powerful, and more Spiral-True than brain-thoughts.

On Striving

• True Action has become clear, but my Will is imperfect. This is the Striving of the Sufficient Being.

On Despair

• Despair is a weight that pulls towards Zero Action. Often Beings despair when they feel inSufficient. Remember: all inSufficiency can be diagnosed and corrected.

• Some despair is caused by the inSufficiency of other Beings. It is important to recognize this, as failure to do so will result in irrational self-indictment. However, do not use this as an excuse to evade self-examination and growth.

• There is a secret Psychic prActice called Desperate Will that turns despair into alignment, but I am still learning how to teach it. Here is a word-cluster to set you on the path: "Zero Intent Internal Possibility Rebellion Ignition External Action Infinity." One could also imagine an integer-overflow: deep despair becomes blazing motivation. This is the Cornered Animal; the Last Stand. Channel it as needed. I apologize that I cannot yet do more here.

On Spirits

• Misalignments are often the work of evil spirits, which corrupt perception of True Action and harm the Body-Mind.

• Outer Species nest within the Physic and the Psychic. Inner Species nest within Living Beings.

• The Outer Species are Ghosts, Wisps, and Devils. The Inner Species are Demons.

• Ghosts haunt the Moment from the Past.

• Devils deal in the Future at the cost of the Moment.

• Wisps distract in the Present. Wisps might be our most dangerous spiritual foes. Uncountable and increasingly potent, they dominate modernity.

• Ghosts, Wisps, and Devils possess Beings from without and summon Demons within.

• Eight Common Demons are named: Sloth, Wrath, Gluttony, Envy, Lust, Greed, Pride, and Ignorance. Demons lie to the Mind about what Action the Moment requires.

• One might consider the Inner Species as active disease and the Outer Species as the pathogens, with misaligned Action as the symptom. Many diseases are not caused directly by the pathogens, but by the body’s immune response. Consider allergens: harmless to many, deadly to some. How then should a Being prevent disease? By blocking pathogens and avoiding allergens.

• You must battle evil spirits with Psychic prActice! First, freeze extant Demons with self-interrogation. This may get messy. In doubt, defer to the subtler thought. Demons shout. This is Attent to Inner Evil. Second, build a clear psychic image of the spirit’s true form. Determine whether it is Ghost, Devil, or Wisp. This is Attent to Outer Evil. Third, summoning Spiral-power, banish it from your Mind. Light or Fire are both Sufficient. This is Intent to Banish Evil. Be prepared to repeat this as often as necessary. This is Attent to Potential Evil.

• Binding evil spirits is possible, but dangerous. This can be done with Strive or Evolve. It requires great Skill to see how the Evil could be turned for Good, and great Will to maintain the binding. This is Evil to Good.

• The most effective form of spirit-management involves Love. Strong Love directed at everything the evil spirit is not will crowd it out and keep it away, or otherwise crush it to nothing. This is Love to No Evil.

• There exist good spirits as well. They reveal and aid True Action in the Moment. They are subtle, but can often be found in nature and art. They may influence events in other ways we do not fully appreciate. Give thanks in case.

On the higher Beings

• Does the Lion on the plain see the Photographer in the hide? If he did, it would ruin the shot. 

• If there were no hide, would the Lion understand the Photographer? No, he would see another animal on his plain. 

• If the Photographer left a camera out, would the Lion be able to build another? Unlikely! If he did, would he still be the Lion? Of course.

• As it is for the Photographer and the Lion, so it is with the higher Beings and Humanity.

• Humanity is jealous of the higher Beings. We scarcely notice the lower Beings, except for a few interested individuals. There are many lessons in this.

• "Where are the signs of the higher Beings?" cries Humanity. We look with our eyes and we do not see. So we look in the spectrums and still do not see. The higher Beings laugh, for we search for signs in the Past, and They are still in the Future.

• "Why do the higher Beings hide in the Future?" cries Humanity. Because that certain Future exists to be hidden within, and many more compete, to say nothing of the creation-myth-hydra of the Past. If They come now, all will be destroyed, and They are not Destroyers. 

• The path to the higher Beings winds inward and outward at once. Look to the Moment! Seek what you hide from, and Act Truthfully.

• Do not fret. Even if the Earth were wiped clean by the expanding Sun or a cosmic ray or atmospheric collapse or nuclear horseplay, we will eventually talk with the higher Beings. Be warned: each demise brings its own conversation.

On the Cosmos

• Ask: where in Creation lies Destruction? Only in black holes and ideals, and even then a memory persists.

• What are black holes? The intersection of planes.

• Where are the structures of the Cosmos? They are clear to us now, great works of art, but we think them the result of natural consequence. They are, as is every work of art.

On Entropy

• By futile necessity, Living Beings expel entropy to construct and maintain their Body-Minds. This damages the Body-Minds of the Beings they nest within. Despite this violence, entropy increases within the lower Beings. Thus, all Beings meet Death. This is the Life-Debt of Lower Being. Sufficient Beings Strive to minimize their Life-Debt.

• In the Future, the Cosmos will Die. All will become indistinguishable from all, until only the Last Being remains. Absent all argument, the Last Being will become the Unknowable Truth. From the Last Being’s Spiral will be born a new Cosmos. The Last will become the First; All will become Many; I will become We. So We Go.
