Three people dead, multiple confirmed cases, possible human-to-human transmission, international contact tracing across several countries… and somehow this story barely trends for more than a few hours?

I’m not saying “next COVID” or anything dramatic like that, but the whole situation around the MV Hondius feels weirdly low-key considering the scale of the response happening behind the scenes.

WHO, CDC, European agencies, quarantines, countries tracking passengers globally, Canary Islands refusing docking at first… yet online it feels almost buried compared to other health stories. (Reuters)

What also stands out to me is that early passengers reportedly left the ship before the seriousness of the outbreak was fully understood. (WKMG)

Again, not claiming some giant conspiracy. It just feels like there’s a huge disconnect between the actual response and the amount of public discussion happening around it.

Anyone else noticing that?
